Disabled American Veterans, Chapter 30, DAV Auxiliary Unit and the Good Samaritan Society along with several other state and local groups are organizing the 16th Annual Veterans Appreciation Picnic at ASUMH on October 2nd from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. All Veterans, active military, and their families are invited to celebrate with free food, beverages, camaraderie, and lots of door prizes.

The lovely Leann Jackson will sing the Star Spangled Banner at 11am at the opening ceremony. Honored guests will be Dr. Marjory Scott, Director of Central Arkansas Veterans Healthcare System; Col Nate Todd, Director of Arkansas Department of Veterans Affairs; DAV State Commander Komprood; Arkanas National Guard Adjutant General Kendell Penn and Special Invitation to Arkansas Lieutenant Governor Tim Griffin. Enjoy a live performance by the fabulous Kattie Laney Project between 11am and 1 pm followed by a special concert in the Ed Coulter Performing Arts Center at the Sheid featuring Mr Cabbage Head and the Screaming Raddishes.

This is the 16th Annual event to which all veterans and their families are invited in order that the community may show its appreciation for their service and sacrifices and to reach out to Veterans and their families who may need help. The Good Samaritan Society will provide the food and the volunteers to cook and serve the veterans. Members of the Mountain Home High School Junior JROTC program will also contribute their time to serve the Veterans at this function by serving the meal. Please help us to share this event to all military people that you know and thank you for your support of our Veterans!
